    Welcome to TSHL Online Academy

    Welcome to the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature’s website for online studies. We are pleased to offer four courses designed to offer up to date information, resources, and tools to keep you active, engaged, and involved. At the end of the first year, we propose to offer a Capstone Seminar for students who have completed courses.

    The Academy offers online courses for TSHL members, older Texans, the aging network & providers, college students, family caregivers and interested public. With TSHL Online, you have on-demand access to all courses, so that you learn at your pace, and at your convenience.

    Explore this site and learn about the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature and its education programs. We hope you find something here that interests you and you decide to pursue your studies with us.

    If you wish to enroll in a course, you will need to create an account. To establish an account follow these steps:

    1. Click login upper right corner of page. 2. Click the "Create New Account" button on the right side of the screen and fill in the requested information (create your own username and password, fill in your name, email, city, country). 3. You will receive an email to confirm your registration. Click on the link provided in the email to confirm your registration and go to the course.

Available Courses

  • TSHL 101 REALITIES OF THE THIRD AGE
    Cost: $35.00
    After completing this course students will be able to demonstrate understanding of the realities of aging, especially the “Third Age” (persons over sixty years of age) including their promises and challenges.
  • TSHL 103 ADVOCACY FOR OLDER TEXANS

    This course is designed to meet the needs of persons who may be involved in advocating for the continuing development of programs and policies that are designed to meet the unique needs of citizens in mid and later life.

  • TSHL 104 CALL FOR LEADERSHIP
    This course provides information and guidance for older Texans who may wish to become a member of TSHL or as a refresher course for members who currently serve. It was developed by former Speaker in consultation with members of the 12th TSHL.
